Some of the best places to visit in Europe in November include a variety of destinations that will make every type of traveler happy. From hiking and beach lounging to city walking and foodie explorations, you can find just what you are looking for for your autumn Europe trip!

Paris

I absolutely must include Paris as one of the best places to visit in Europe in November as I would go for my birthday every year! For travelers looking for true autumn weather, this is an idyllic destination. Prepare your chic coats and boots, Paris is the most glamorous backdrop for your fall travel photos!

The top attractions in the city including gardens, parks, Palace of Versailles, Musee d’Orsay, and more are all still great options to add to your itinerary. In November, Christmas markets are starting up as well, so be sure to check them out if you are visiting in the second half of the month.

Rome

November is the low season in Rome and as such, you can enjoy cheaper prices and fewer crowds. If you are looking for a calmer and more relaxed experience in Rome, visiting in November is the way to go!

One thing to be prepared for in Rome a this time of year is the weather. It rains about half the days in November, so be sure to pack accordingly so you can enjoy your time in the city. Even if you only have two days in Rome, adding it to your November travel itinerary is worth it.

A few attractions to have on your radar in and around Copenhagen are the Hubertusjagt horse races in Dyrehaven the first Sunday in November (free), the Arktisk Festival, Kronborg Castle where Hamlet is set, and the Copenhagen Renaissance Music Festival.

The Canary Islands

The Canary Islands are home to some of the most warm European cities in November. If visiting a warm place is important to you as you plan your November adventures, the Canary Islands can make you very happy!

Portugal is among the must-see European countries in November and Lisbon is the main attraction! While this time of year is the rainiest in Lisbon, the last half of November offer visitors fewer crowds during their visit.

However, if it is important to you to avoid crowds, you will want to avoid visiting the first half of the month as Web Summit is usually held sometime during this time frame.

Český Krumlov

Visiting Český Krumlov in November is a great way to beat the huge crowds that accumulate there in the summer months. This town is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has been in several films and the popular series Game of Thrones.

While the interior of the towns castle is closed from November to March, you can still explore the castle grounds and courtyards. The town also has a lovely traditional Advent Christmas Market which starts at the end of November!

Barcelona

You can find some of the best November weather in Europe in the lovely Spanish city of Barcelona. The weather and the smaller crowds at this time of year are both big selling points for Barcelona in November.

Barcelona is known for the incredible nightlife throughout the city. You can visit everywhere from dive bars with cult-followings to the fancy beachfront bars and clubs. You should also make time to try some of the best food in the city like Paella, Cava, Bomba, and Iberian ham.

Sicily 

Are you dreaming of some incredible European beaches in November? Sicily has beautiful beaches with remarkably blue water that will make you never want to leave! Some of the best include Spiaggia dei Conigli, the Favignana beaches, and San Vito Capo.

Some of the other top sights to see and attractions to explore include the Brandenburg Gate, Berlin Cathedral, Checkpoint Charlie, and Tiergarten. The world-renowned German Christmas markets will be opening in November as well! I recommend spending at least three days in Berlin to see all of the astounding attractions.

Colmar

France easily makes its way onto the list of the best countries in Europe to visit in November. And if I can make a suggestion for you, consider visiting the fairytale-like Colmar in the Alsace Region. It gets quite chilly in Colmar in November, but you will still find yourself thrilled to be in the city!

The Christmas Markets in Colmar are the highlight of the late fall and early winter time period. Colmar’s six Christmas markets offer warmth and an inviting spirit to visitors. The beautiful lights, holiday decorations, treats, and shops are a sight for sore eyes!

Budapest

Budapest, like most of the best European cities to visit in November, is a great place to enjoy Christmas activities. Vörösmarty Square and St. Stephen’s Basilica have great markets where you can purchase local crafts and taste yummy Hungarian treats. You should also walk along Andrássy Avenue to enjoy the Christmas lights if you have the time.

While not Christmas activities, the Budapest Baths and a scenic cruise on the Danube at night are great ways to spend your time in the city in November as well. You can also find cultural events like dance performances, concerts, art workshops and more!

Malta

Looking for the best November beach vacations in Europe? The Mediterranean island of Malta is a paradise destination for beachgoers. For a soft sand beach, head to Golden Bay on the island’s northwestern coast, for a family-friendly beach, head to Ramla Bay, and for the best swimming beach, head to Blue Lagoon.

November is a more affordable time of the year to visit Vienna than the summer, so if this dreamy city has been on your bucketlist for a while, now is the time to finally visit! Make sure to make time for Cafe Sacher Wien for chocolate cake and Schönbrunn Palace’s Café Residenz for apple strudel while you are there!
