What It’s Like Eating Vegetarian On A Carnival Cruise

When we found out we were sailing on the Carnival Valor, we immediately began to dream about the unlimited food and dining options on the ship.  In case you didn’t know, Victoria is a vegetarian and Terrence will eat anything at least once. We were also a bit worried about what Carnival would have to offer for vegetarians.

We googled and saw that Carnival is careful to take specific dietary needs into consideration, but we were still unsure about how the overall experience would go. Would there be enough options? Would the food be just as good as the food with meat? What about dinner entrees?

What It’s Like Eating Vegetarian On A Carnival Cruise:

Carnival offers more than enough options for vegetarian diners

Our fears were completely unnecessary! The Carnival Valor offered so many vegetarian options that we didn’t even get to eat all of them! We kept a special eye out for vegan food too and many dishes could be made vegan by simply eliminating cheese or cream.

Vegetarians aren’t left eating sides and salads

Of course, if you want to spend your whole cruise eating lettuce and side dishes, that is up to you! We were pleased to find out that each night during our cruise, the Carnival Valor main dining room offered one new vegetarian entree. Of course, there were five new meat dishes to one vegetarian, but we were not about to complain! In addition, many of the appetizers were vegetarian and the menu also offered a delicious Indian dish that could be ordered at any time.

Unlike many restaurants where dishes are pre-made and cooks have little wiggle room, Carnival makes all their food from scratch. This means that vegetarians can ask to have meat removed from dishes so that they become veggie friendly. For Victoria, this meant requesting that the bacon bits be removed from the mac and cheese and the anchovies removed from the Ceaser salad. Our waiters put in our request with a smile and the dishes were delicious.

We were so excited about Guy’s Burger Joint but were a little disappointed that we couldn’t find any information about veggie burgers. It turns out that they now offer meatless options so all the vegetarians on Carnival don’t have to sit out on the fun of the burger bar. Victoria was overjoyed and we were able to enjoy our fried food together.

The breakfast buffet was a vegetarian’s dream

When we think breakfast, we think a buffet full of sausage, bacon, and other meats vegetarians certainly can’t eat. On Carnival’s breakfast buffet, there were so many options Victoria couldn’t try everything. In addition to fresh pancakes, french toast, waffles, fruit, egg dishes, potato dishes, and more, Carnival Valor offered two omelette stations! When ordering an omelette, vegetarians can request any ingredients they like!
